Day Trip: Night Trains @ the Twin Cities Model Train Museum
Whether you're a model train enthusiast or simply someone who appreciates extraordinary craftsmanship, this evening trip is not to be missed . . . you don't want to be left on the platform and miss the ride.
Before we get on board, we will dine at The Original Malt Shop in Roseville. Dinner is not included in the price of the trip. Estimate about $20/meal ($10-15 sandwich, $6 malt).
The Twin City Model Railroad Museum spans over 11,000 square feet of interactive layouts and displays, anchored by a stunning recreation of the Twin Cities area, widely regarded as a world-class example of the art form. Beyond the flagship layout, the museum features a professionally built toy train display showcasing a variety of scales, manufacturers, historical eras, and modeling techniques. Railroading history comes to life through a remarkable collection of artwork, artifacts, and equipment gathered from the local railroads that once shaped this region.
Best of all, the exhibits are designed for guests of all ages, so come ready to explore, interact, and be inspired.
What's special about the Night Trains experience? The museum’s collection of model trains come alive as the lights are turned down and the buildings and street lights glow warmly, setting the scene for specially lighted models of operating vintage passenger trains.
