Under Minnesota law, drivers 55 and older who complete a state-approved defensive driving course qualify for a 10% discount on their auto insurance for three years. Starting SoonA+ Driving School: Online and In person: Age 14-18Driver's EducationPlease register on the A+ Driving School website on their website which can be found by clicking here. Once you go to the A+ Driving website you will then select in-person classes or distance learning. Class Description is below. . . . . . . . . . . This 30-hour program will be conducted by a certified instructor from A+ Driving School and will fulfill the state driver’s education requirement. The course will address the “how to” and “whys” of safe driving. The format of the class will be lecture and active discussion. After completion of the program, students will be able to set up and participate in behind the wheel sessions to meet the six hour state requirement. Students may start classroom driving lessons at age 14, take the Knowledge Test and obtain their Instruction Permit at age 15, and take the Road Test and obtain their Provisional License at age 16. To be eligible to take the Road Test, students must have had their Instruction Permit for a minimum of six months. The Driver's Education Program is divided into two phases: Classroom Phase - teleconference/in-personThis phase includes the required 30 hours of classroom instruction that prepares the student to take the Minnesota permit test and to take on the responsibility of driving. If a lesson is missed, a make-up lesson can be arranged with the office at either the next White Bear session or at another of A+'s locations. Behind-the-Wheel PhaseAfter students pass the permit test, they are required to complete six hours of driving lessons. The lessons are provided in three, two-hour lessons. The lessons are one-on-one instruction with instructors licensed through the MN Dept. of Public Safety. Students can be picked up from and dropped off at home, school or work. Detailed information about scheduling the behind-the-wheel lessons will be provided. Bear FUNdamentals is a year-before-kindergarten full day program focused on providing, nurturing and engaging opportunities for learning and play that prepare children for kindergarten. Located at Birch, Hugo, Lakeaires, and Otter Lake Elementary Schools from 9:00 am-2:45 pm, you can also register for Extended Day hours before or after school. Click here for a complete list of fees, deadlines, and more information. Bear FUNdamentals focuses on children's emotional, social, physical and intellectual growth. Children work on listening skills, language and literacy, thinking and math skills, and social development through meaningful, interactive play. Content is based on Creative Curriculum, and the program is staffed at a 1:10 ratio, taught by passionate instructors who encourage curiosity, discovery, and problem-solving in a stimulating, structured, and fun environment. Choose from a variety of different contract options! Additionally, transportation may be available to your child depending on school choice and current routes.
