History: If the Walls Could Talk

Enrichment Adult / Home -
AE 2526 Winter Spring

The White House was built next to a sewage ditch. It has been burned down, expanded, supposedly haunted, and is the home of our presidents. Learn about this iconic structure and the men who’ve lived there, from the president who lost a set of White House china in a poker game to the ones who served without pay to the one who had the place gutted and rebuilt. Learn, too, about the behind the scenes workers who make this house/museum work.

Kathleen Simmer

Kathy Simmer taught in the St. Paul Public Schools and was very interested in historical research. Upon retirement she began teaching classes on American history topics in several suburbs and for various organizations. She likes to include the details that are often left out of the history books.

Kathy's portion of the class fee is donated to the Alzheimer's Association or the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research.  Thank you.
