This seminar offers an in-depth exploration of the iconic and emerging artists who have shaped our state’s cultural landscape, from the 1700s to today.. Highlighting influential figures such as George Morrison, Warren MacKenzie, Wanda Gág, and Clement Haupers, among many others. We’ll examine the legacy of these artists, discuss how significant pieces have been acquired by museums and private collections, and look at the role of historic galleries. Additionally, this seminar will address the evolving Minnesota art market, providing insights on expanding personal collections in today’s environment. -

Learn & Bingo
The Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services (SMRLS) will present on important legal issues that older adults face, focusing on maintaining independence, preventing isolation, and providing resources to help people stay in their homes safely and longer. After the discussion, we’ll play Bingo and serve light refreshments. Who is SMRLS? SMRLS is a non-profit law firm which receives federal, state, local, public, and private funding to provide free legal help to low income and elderly people who reside in 33 counties of southern Minnesota, including the St. Paul metropolitan area. SMRLS is a client-centered organization which is committed to its Mission of providing a full range of high-quality legal services, in a respectful manner which enable clients to: enforce their legal rights; maintain freedom from hunger, homelessness, sickness and abuse; and empower persons and ensure equal opportunity, thus, helping persons to help themselves and become economically self-reliant, to the extent their individual abilities and circumstances permit. Rain Barrels
Rain barrels harvest rainwater from roofs and other structures that can then be used to water gardens, lawns, and potted plants. Installing a rain barrel is an excellent way to reduce run-off and pollution as well as save MONEY! As much as 40% of residential water is used for irrigation in the summer. You will learn the ins and outs of rain barrels, site selection, and other tips to use rain barrels most efficiently. We will also talk about the pros and cons of many of the commercially available rain barrels and how to make your own. Participants will receive an informational folder full of great publications, a native plant book, and several rain barrels will be given away as door prizes. -

Women's Self-Defense for Women & Girls
This women's self-defense seminar will help you acquire the strategies and skills sets necessary to protect yourself from attack situations which are common and unique to females. Learn preemptive tactics, escape maneuvers, verbal interventions, physical techniques, and the effective use of self-defense devices, in order to quickly, and successfully, end a potentially dangerous encounter or assault. A strong emphasis will also be placed on empowering the mind, which is of paramount importance in prevailing in an attack. Come see for yourself how this seminar will give you the supreme confidence and extraordinary power to face any threatening situation. Ages 13-15 must be accompanied by a registered adult, Ages 16-17 with an adult (female or male) who stays to observe.
